AMA Journal Review- Bortz book: “Next Medicine”

WALTER BORTZ HAS LIVED A REMARKABLE LIFE. He volunteered with Mother Teresa in Calcutta, who advised him to “just love the dying.” He discussed the origin of life with Freeman Dyson at the starting line of the Boston Marathon. He invited Norman Cousins to join him in a panel discussion on wellness, and Linus Pauling sat in the first row. Bortz is a senior geriatrician, an octogenarian marathon runner, and a proud dad. He is also an inquisitive thinker, reaching into history, philosophy, anthropology, and astrophysics to diagnose what is wrong with medicine today and to suggest alternatives.

NY Times-Krugman cites “very good takedown” from Aaron Carroll

March 23rd NY Times-The Opinion Pages, Krugman cites Aaron Carroll‘s piece posted on The Incidental Economist titled: “Senator Johnson’s odd dislike of the PPACA” as a “very good takedown.” Carroll writes: “It’s the one year anniversary of the PPACA, and there have been a number of op-eds praising and cursing it. The WSJ took the opportunity to print a piece by Senator Ron Johnson, on the health care his daughter Carey received at birth, and how he is so thankful that the US system was not under the PPACA at the time.

John Kenagy Receives ACHE 2011 Award

The American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) recently announced John Kenagy, MD, winner of the 2011 James A.
